Al Jazeera Balkans brings regional and global news, and report viewers in the region who are following programs of Al Jazeera Media Network in the world. Al Jazeera was launched in 1996 as the first independent Arabic news channel in the world. Ten years later, in November 2006, Al Jazeera has launched a program in English. It was the first such global program which is broadcast from the Middle East.
In November 2011, Al Jazeera has launched a program in the Balkans. Al Jazeera Balkans has become the first channel of Al Jazeera Media Network, which broadcasts in a language other than English or Arabic. Al Jazeera broadcasts news and current affairs for viewers in the region, including Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Slovenia. Beside the central studio in Sarajevo, AJB has regional centres in Zagreb, Belgrade, Skopje and Podgorica correspondents in Pristina, Nis, Banja Luka, as well as Washington, London and Brussels, and uses a global network of correspondents of Al Jazeera Media Network.

News programs of Al Jazeera currently have 82 centres across the world, what this network makes it the largest in the world after the BBC.
