6. February 2026by FIC

The Foreign Investors Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIC), in cooperation with Key Consulting, organized a roundtable discussion dedicated to strengthening economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a special focus on the possibilities of business connections with the Gulf countries.

The event brought together representatives of FIC members and domestic businessmen with the aim of opening a meaningful dialogue on existing challenges, untapped potential and concrete steps needed to improve economic cooperation with the Saudi market. Special emphasis was placed on the exchange of practical experiences and examples of successful business models from the region.

FIC Executive Director Nedim Makarević emphasized that the current level of economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Saudi Arabia does not reflect the potential of the relationship between the two countries, emphasizing the need for a more strategic, systematic and long-term approach to economic issues.

As the keynote speaker at the event, business consultant Željko Hanžek presented his business model and decades of experience working in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. He spoke about ways to establish business contacts, understanding the local context and building trust as key elements of successful cooperation, as well as about processes and initiatives that have contributed to strengthening institutional ties, including the current process of establishing the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Riyadh.

The round table is part of FIC’s ongoing activities aimed at improving the investment climate, connecting domestic and foreign economic actors and opening space for new economic projects of importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
