Dr. Nedim Makarević, Executive Director of the Foreign Investors Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the Sandžak Business Forum 2026 in Novi Pazar, one of the important regional business events dedicated to investments, economic connectivity and the development potential of Sandžak and the wider region.

The Forum brought together representatives of institutions, the business community, investors, entrepreneurs and experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and other countries of the region, with the aim of strengthening economic ties, opening new opportunities for cooperation and presenting the investment potential of this area.

Dr. Makarević participated in the panel “Real Estate Market: A Bridge Between the Diaspora and Regional Development,” which focused on the role of the real estate sector in attracting investments, strengthening ties with the diaspora and supporting the long term development of local communities. Alongside Dr. Makarević, the panel featured Hako Duljević from Duljević d.o.o., Edin Sefo from World Trade Center Sarajevo, Minet Musić from MM Real Estate and Dr. Dženis Bajramović from the University of Novi Pazar, while the panel was moderated by Sara Bero.

In his remarks, Dr. Makarević emphasized that real estate should not be viewed only through the lens of square meters, prices and individual investments, but as part of a broader economic and development framework. He pointed out that the real estate market is closely linked to investor confidence, legal certainty, urban planning, the quality of infrastructure and the long term vision for the development of a place.

From the perspective of the Foreign Investors Council BiH, serious capital comes to markets where there are clear rules, stability, transparency and a sense of security for investors. This is why legal certainty, more efficient procedures and a predictable business environment are key factors in attracting quality investments, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in Sandžak and the entire region.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of regional cooperation and better market connectivity. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak share numerous development challenges, but also significant potential, particularly in the areas of investment, tourism, housing, infrastructure and cooperation with the diaspora. By using these opportunities more strategically, this region can become a stronger point of attraction for capital and sustainable economic growth.

The Sandžak Business Forum represents an important platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences and concrete business initiatives. Events of this kind are especially valuable because they connect institutions, the private sector, investors and experts who can help ensure that the region is not only a place where potential is discussed, but a place where concrete investment progress is made.

The Foreign Investors Council BiH thanks the organizers of the Sandžak Business Forum, especially Dr. Haris Zogić and Edin Sefo, for the invitation and the opportunity for FIC BiH, through the participation of Dr. Nedim Makarević, to contribute to the discussion on topics that will become increasingly important in the coming years for the development of cities, economies and regional cooperation.
