About us
Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH d.d. Kakanj is the leading Bosnian and Herzegovinian producer of high-quality cement types, used in the construction of the most significant infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
The company was founded in 1978 under the name Cement Factory Kakanj. In July 2000, as part of a large-scale privatization pilot project, a majority share in the Kakanj cement plant was acquired by the German group Heidelberg Materials, one of the world’s largest building materials producers, employing around 51,000 people at 3,000 locations in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Since then, Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH has been on a continuous growth trajectory, achieving success after success. Production technology has been improving year after year, while environmental protection standards have been elevated to the European level.
